Non Violent Resistance (NVR)
Offering therapeutic consultations for children’s homes and organisations working with children and families.
About NVR
Non-Violent Resistance (NVR) is a therapeutic approach designed to resist destructive and harmful behaviours, drawing on peaceful methods, while improving relationships between families and communities.
It is a highly effective model that has proven to reduce conflict, enhance parental authority, and strengthen family bonds without the use of aggression or force.
Kerry Shoesmith's Expertise in NVR
I bring over 20 years of experience in therapeutic support. Since 2013, after being introduced to NVR by Dr. Peter Jacob, I have embedded NVR into my work with children, families, and organisations.
My specific experience in NVR includes:
-
NVR Family Support: Helping families reconnect and overcome destructive behaviours through non-violent methods.
-
NVR Training for Professionals: Providing training and guidance for professionals to effectively implement NVR in their practice, organisational models, and approach to leadership.
-
Therapeutic Consultation: Offering expert advice and supervision for carers, managers, and staff on incorporating NVR principles into their work.

My background in residential childcare and my dedication to creating therapeutic environments have enabled me to deliver impactful NVR-based interventions. I am passionate about the transformative nature of Non-Violent Resistance, in overcoming helplessness and moving towards empowerment, healing, and affecting change.
